There was a time about half a century ago where a rural part of Hernando County, Florida was known as the UFO Capital of the World. During that time, a man named John Reeves made headlines for an encounter he had with unearthly residents in the area that Marker 48 Brewing now occupies.
Such an event calls for a beer, and each year, Marker 48 Brewing celebrates the area’s unusual history with a beer dedicated to “The John Reeves Incident,” and the time for the beer’s release is coming soon.
From Marker 48 Brewing:

Join us for our annual beer release and party to celebrate local legend John Reeves who claims that between 1965 and 1971 he was visited and befriended by aliens right near the spot that Marker 48 sits today. Brooksville was then known as the “UFO Capital of the WORLD”! (True story, look it up!)
The John Reeves Incident will be released on tap and in cans. We will have live music by Trippin Echoes 6:30-10:30 and Yo Pauley’s Deep and a thin Crust Pizza food truck will be onsite.
Special merch will be available to purchase and we encourage everyone to dress up in your best alien fits!
If you have stories of the late and great John Reeves or any UFO’s in our area please contact us! We would love to share your stories!
