Ever since announcing his impending move out of Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, J. Wakefield Brewing has alluded to an impending “last hurrah” party to send the taproom off in style. The brewery has set a date and posted some details online, with more promised to follow.
J. Wakefield Brewing broke the news recently on the Steal This Beer Podcast, but the brewery has not released the news until now. This afternoon, the news became official (and with new dates from the podcast).
The Miami-area craft brewer, J. Wakefield Brewing has hosted Wakefest, an annual invitational beer festival and anniversary celebration, for the past eight years. In a letter dated 2/9, the brewery announces that the festival will not have its scheduled slot in 2024.
One of the hottest beers on Floridian’s radar happens to be one of the most sough-after Berliner Weisses in the world, according to Ratebeer.com: J. Wakefield Brewing’s DFPF. Since opening its doors almost two years ago, J Wakefield Brewing has been pouring beers around the state, with the recent distribution expansion into the Tampa market, J Wakefield Brewing is growing beyond its Miami home.
Well, the Miami brewery just set a tentative date for the beer’s release on Facebook, provided that the yeast remains happy and the beer does not encounter any unforeseen delays.

We’ve been getting many questions regarding the release of our world famous DFPF Florida Weisse. As we diligently work hard to keep the yeast happy and our beers fresh the day is tentatively set for Saturday February 4th.
DFPF is currenlty rated the #1 Berliner Weisee in the world by Ratebeer.com with a score of 100, and also holds the #2 spot in the world by BeerAdvocate.com with a score of 98.
Bottle sales will be held outside via the bay door.

Beginning immediately, Cavalier Distribution will distribute draught versions of J. Wakefield’s flagship beers including El Jefe Hefeweizen, Hops 4 Teacher IPA, Amber Waves, 24th Street Brown Ale, and UJP Porter, as well as seasonal and limited releases as they are available.
